Where does my Help come from?

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber.” Psalm 121:1-3

I love how this photo from our time in Colorado displays a couple of translations of this verse. Some say: “I lift my eyes to the mountains” … others, say “I lift my eyes to the hills.” I chose this image because both are shown in the layering of God’s architectural design of the earth. To me, this demonstrates that we can bring “anything”—large or small—before His throne. That’s encouraging!

What a promise, O Lord, to my heart—every day!! I come running to Your arms with ____________ because I know that You care and You are sovereign to answer, comfort, help me or bring the peace of Your dear presence. Amen.

Abba Daddy, I love the image of mountains (steadfast, towering, powerful, immovable) as a reference for lifting my eyes toward You. Where does my help come from? You and You alone! Time and time again, You’ve come to my aid, rescue, and defense. All I have to do is look around me and view creation to see Your might and power. And Lord, as You formed the Universe, earth, sky, flora and fauna, animals and all of humanity—I know You’ll be my Helper, the One who watches over me. This brings me great comfort and peace.

Thank You, Jesus, for Your ever-present care and attention. Thank You for taking my hand in the daytime and being my Guardian in the wee hours. And thank You for bringing Your divinity down to our human hearts so we understand and gain knowledge of how tenderly You hold us close. Amen.

Our Helper is the same God Who formed the heavens and the earth. He created You with a purpose and a plan. And He is watching over you, always. How does this assure you today?
