Upon a Canvas

Beach strewn with tiny shells, under a beautiful sky

The sand served as God’s canvas to display a covering of tiny white shells. My hand served as another, to give you a close-up view. These small mussel shells had been washed up by the tide, in too great a quantity to count. Some are whole; some are broken. But in their entirety, they changed the color of the shoreline from tan to a lustrous, pearly hue.

God can use us—no matter our state—if we allow our pieces to be used by Him. If we surrender and yield—and do our part for His kingdom—He will use our strengths, weaknesses, talents, gifts and resources in a unifying fashion.

Let the Lord guide you, as He does the waves and seashells. He’ll create the pattern of your life just He directs the tide. And upon the canvas of your heart, He’ll be fashioning the image of Himself. Will you let Him design, fashion, His Will upon every part of your life?

Dear Lord, I surrender the broken, every part of me, to be used for Your purposes. May Your image be indelibly imprinted upon my words, actions, and deeds. And may the canvas of my heart be pliable, easily shaped by Your Word and Spirit, I pray. Amen.
