My image is from a few years ago, when I held a large vessel in my arms. But it captures the idea of the entry that you’re about to read about being filled by the Spirit and Living Water of our gracious Lord.
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation. Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation. And on that day you will say, ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted.’” Isaiah 12:2-4 NASB
My Savior, I come to this morning, trusting You with __________. I come with a pitcher in my arms, as if to a well. I come, letting down my guard, dropping my defenses. I come to be filled, forgiven, and energized for the day. I come to the spring of Your righteousness and ask for Your guidance and direction for my steps. I’m here to worship You, to give thanks, and to exalt You. And I’m here to sit at Your feet, desiring that joy is an exchange from Your Spirit into my soul. Amen.
Joy is like drawing water from a well. We must let down some things (our guard, our sin, our worries) if the Lord is to fill us. Then, His peace—and the wonder-working power of His salvation—can wash over us, fill us, and anoint us with His love and righteousness.
