The Calla Lily's Bloom

2 P & P Weekly Blog for 24 February - 1 March 2024

Our Valentine's Day Calla Lily
Our Valentine's Day Calla Lily

We had gotten this Calla Lily for Valentine’s Day. As I moved it to another location in our home this week, I noticed something unusual—a double bloom opened on one stem. I saw its flowering (in light of Easter’s approach) and saw a few lessons worth noting:

  1.  God wants us to walk with Him; He wants us to feel a sense of “oneness” with His Spirit. He wants our trust to be the Source of our hope and joy and the One who brings us comfort and peace.

  2.  If we surrender our life to Him, we are never alone. He will never leave us (Hebrews 13:8), and the Lord upholds us in His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).

  3.  We are intertwined with Him (“in Christ”) through His sacrifice for us at Calvary. He is the Vine, we are the branches. (John 15:5). Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old is passed, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The extra bloom had developed over a couple of weeks. And so, as Easter swiftly approaches, I hope you’ll stop to appreciate its advent, the wonders of Jesus’ resurrection, and the ways in which Earth mirrors this divine miracle. For  as Spring rises … hope, likewise, pushes forth in our hearts … when we cling to God’s Word, His promises, and His presence daily.

The Rose of Sharon (Song of Songs 2:1) lives and rules and reigns so that our lives can bloom eternally. Are you one with Christ and living with a sense of “oneness” with His Spirit?

I love how unusual occurrences draw our eyes to Jesus and the lessons of His love and resurrection power!
