One of the things that I love about Autumn, is the gathering, formations, and calls of the wild geese. From their distinguishing “V” in the sky, to their distinctive throaty honking, they seem to mark this season as their own. Somehow these gaggles form a version of song, that may even be their herald—of giving thanks unto God.
Dear Lord, I cry out to You today, with my need of ________________________. I bring You a seeking soul, that pours out every concern before Your throne. I bring You my praise, for everyday I see Your provision and faithfulness. And I bring You a song of hope, that comes from a grateful heart, because Your love is unconditional, grace-filled, and merciful. For like the geese, I wish to follow where You direct. And like them, I rise, because You have gifted me with this day, to give You honor. Amen.
Have you called out to Jesus lately? Have you brought Him your cares, as well as your offering of praise? Have you shown His love in any distinguishing way? Have you encouraged anyone, or simply “honked” about all that is wrong in our world?
Perhaps this is a great week to make a positive mark—for God’s kingdom—by showing love to someone close to you, and to a stranger. If each of us did this, we just might cause the angels to sing, and maybe the geese, will join in too.
May we be known for calling out to Jesus, for being a voice of praise, and an encourager of our fellow man. For this is the call of a follower of Christ.
