Take One

A Child's Invitation to their artistry became a question for what we have to share!
A Child's Invitation to their artistry became a question for what we have to share!

While walking one evening, we came upon this little vignette: a grouping of painting rocks was displayed with a sign that read, “Take one.” I loved that a young child was already demonstrating their sense of artistry. Even more so, I loved that they had the spirit to share what they had made with others. What a gift. And I began to ponder … what can we, or are we sharing on a daily basis?

As Doug and I walked on, we answered my question. We are known for our affection—for each other and for sharing a smile or hug with others. It’s a sign of our love for Jesus and a way to encourage our friends, family, or folks we meet who are struggling. We also love inspiring others to get into God’s Word for themselves, especially to memorize Scripture. And third, we pray daily for friends, loved ones, our church family and leadership, our nation, and any needs confided to us.

A child (or a couple of children) had a sweet spirit of sharing something they had hand-crafted. That’s one way that we can share God’s love. I’ve shared with you three ways that Doug and I try to have a “take one” attitude for the cause of Christ and His kingdom, so now; it’s your turn … I’m challenging you to think about what you want others to take away from their encounters with you.

Dear Lord, “Take One” is a precious attitude that displays a sharing heart. I pray that You place in each heart at least one idea for which we would like to be known—one gift to be shared—to bring You glory. And then let us distribute it with a smile, blessings, and with Your love attached. Amen.

Take some time with Jesus for some inspiring ideas from His Word: Matthew 5:16, 1 Peter 4:7-11, Hebrews 10:24, Luke 6:38, Colossians 3:16
