2 P & P Weekly Blog for 24-30 June 2023
I love spying kiddo’s artwork on our neighborhood sidewalks. One morning this week, this was our “find.” I laughed and told Doug, “This is how the pace of our days feel—like they are speeding up—going faster and faster.” Do any of you feel that way?
One child invited other kids to spin like tops. I would have loved to have seen them in action! To have witnessed their high energy and giggles would have been a delight. But sometimes, the hectic pace of our schedules is not so delightful. And often, our pursuits are for good things, about loving and serving others. So how do we slow down enough to get everything in or ensure we do what pleases Abba Daddy?
One way is by making God our 1st priority. Whether that’s first thing in the morning or sometime during your day—we find that letting God set our agenda—makes a difference to the whole day, the whole picture. We often set goals for the day—through prayer, through our work unto Him—but we also invite Him into our day with a willingness to let Him adjust to the needs around us. Reading His Word, meditating, and listening to His voice are great places to start.
The words “spin faster” may be fun for kids but may also be the greatest source of advice and wisdom for a Christ-follower. Busyness does not necessarily equate with Godliness or with faithful productivity. We must each ask the Lord to guide our daily steps, make us available, and help us serve Him joyfully. Then, we’ll make the most of each day—because we’ve set apart—some part of it—to seek Him above every other pursuit. That’s how we can know that even a day that feels like it’s spinning—will bring Him blessing and honor.
In a world that’s spinning faster, we need to pause and let God set our priorities. When we put Him first, He’ll help us accomplish everything in His Will. And His plans and purposes will be fulfilled so we are filled with joy and praise to share along our way.
Spin a little slower and absorb God’s Truths: Psalm 143:8, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 46:10, 1 Chronicles 16:11, Jeremiah 29:11
