Praise the Lord

We found this elk grazing in his natural habitat in the mountains of Colorado. His carefree, calm movements reminded me of peace and praise. Then, our cat, Tiger Lily, greeted us at the front door one morning with her breath visible upon the windowpane. With every breath, every creation is instructed to give God glory and honor.

“Let everything, that has breath,

Praise the Lord.”

May every living thing that moves,

Or has a heart to adore …

May every flower that blooms,

Every tree and mountain top,

Every bird that soars,

Every animal that runs or hops ...

... “Let everything that has breath,

Praise the Lord.”

Let every starry host,

Every tide that turns,

Every sunset fair,

And every soul that yearns …

“Let everything that has breath,

Praise the Lord.”

For everything,

Everywhere,

Was made for His glory.

From river to desert,

From every corner of the world …

May every creature,

Creation, proclaim Him,

As His beauty is unfurled.

“Let everything that has breath,

Praise the Lord!”

In Psalm 150:6, we have this command: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” And as I was thinking about these words this includes humans, animals, birds, but also every manner of creation—for even the trees have life flowing through them. From the river to desert, to our beating hearts within our chests—we are to give God, honor. In every sunrise, sunset, ocean tide there is movement. In every flower there is growth and renewal. These are signs that the Lord is alive upon the earth and in every life. So let everything that has breath, depth, motion, height—every creation—gives forth its praise. For Yahweh is worthy to receive adoration and the acclamations of earth and heaven.

How does this instruction, which includes mankind and every creature, remind you that all things upon the earth and in heaven have been made to bring Him glory?
