This is “Patches”. She works at one of our favorite orchards here in WI. She has many jobs. As you can see, today, she was the official greeter.
She’s often on hand to meet the customers and guests at the property. She likes to stop and get a pet or two from the little ones and likes to chat with young and old alike. She can be found chasing the Autumn leaves and accompanying her owners into the orchard itself as they pick apples.
I loved how the tawny areas of her coat matched the leaves that had fallen near her. It’s one of her favorite times of the year. As the night turns cooler, the Lord gives her a fuller coat to insulate her. I cherish seeing how He watches over His creatures because it always reminds me that He does the same for us—season in and season out.
So what do you need this Autumn? What need is weighing heavily on your mind? What are you praying for? Is there any area that feels like “patches” that you’re asking God to make whole?
Let’s look for some encouragement from the Word.
Matthew 6:7-8: “When you pray, do not use a lot of meaningless words, as the pagans do, who think that their gods will hear them because their prayers are long. 8 Do not be like them. Your Father already knows what you need before you ask him (GNT).”
Mark 11:24: “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (NIV).”
Philippians 4:19: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus (ESV).”
Philippians 2:13: “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him (NLT).”
Hebrews 6:10: “For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do (ESV).”
Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (ESV).”
Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving (NIV).”
In every setting, with every need, in every situation—God is but a whisper away—ready to answer. He’s always prepared to use us as His servants. And He’s always about taking the pieces (“patches”) to make us whole. Will you trust your life to His care—no matter where you find yourself? No matter your occupation? And no matter how He chooses to demonstrate His love to your heart?
Dear Lord, no matter what job You give me or what role You wish me to perform for Your kingdom—it’s my desire to serve, love, and obey You—with joy so that I am an encouraging source of peace daily. Amen.
