Spring's first Crocus

Associated with the first signs of Spring, the Crocus represents awakening, rebirth, and new beginnings. How like our amazing Savior to speak His language of love—into creation—and our hearts through the things He’s made and through the timing by which He causes them to arrive. 

Like clockwork, the Crocus rises from the darkness of winter’s slumber with its vibrant shades and cheerful blooms. Each time I see them, I smile, and I’m reminded of Scripture’s insights: 

Isaiah 35:1 (NASB) tells us this: “The wilderness and the desert will rejoice, and the desert will shout for joy and blossom; like the crocus 2 It will blossom profusely and rejoice with joy and jubilation.”

Song of Solomon 2:1 (VOICE) echoes this idea: “The flowers are unfolding in the fields; the birds are warming up their songs; the cooing of the turtledove is heard throughout the land.”

From God’s Heart:

My Child, I’ve placed lovely gifts that demonstrate My faithful, loving, and kind nature toward you along your path. These are meant to draw your attention to My majesty, creativity, holiness, and sovereignty. They are also meant to awaken a sense of joy within your soul at My timing—among the earth’s creations and in your life. I hope you’ll trust Me—in the desert/wilderness places. For My resurrection power is alive and at work! Let go of the old (baggage, hindrances, mistakes, pain, and grief) and enter My joy! Your Abby Daddy

2 Corinthians 5:17 in the AMP translation brings all of these thoughts into cohesion: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”
