On that Night of Miracles

2 P & P Blog entry for week of 9 - 15 December 2023

On that night of miracles,

The wise men followed a star.

It lit the heavens,

To pave the way for worship,

And bearing gifts to the Christ Child.

It rested above the little town of Bethlehem,

Where Jesus lay swaddled in the manger.

And on any given night,

We can remember,

By simply going outside,

Into the twilight,

To behold His majesty in creation.

Have you ever chosen a star as your very own, to wish upon? Pray upon? To think upon—as possibly the one that appeared, and has remained—to lift our eyes to the Lord’s divinity? Have you ever thanked God for all of the gifts that He has bestowed upon your life: breath, each new day, His faithful provision and care? And have you ever offered Him gifts: tithes, offerings, your time, talents, love and adoration?

“After hearing the king, they went their way; and behold, the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them [continually leading the way] until it came and stood over the place where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And after entering the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, after opening their treasure chests, they presented to Him gifts [fit for a king, gifts] of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:9-11 (AMP)

How might looking at the night sky from time to time, bring the miracle of Jesus’ birth, a little closer to your world? To your heart? And help you feel His nearness with just a simple gaze?
