May the telling of Your story,
From the quill of Luke,
Leave us open to believe,
Like, the Virgin Mary.
May we share in her song,
Of adoration,
In this Holy season,
Unto You, O God.
May we bow and worship,
Like, the wisemen,
Who brought gifts of great price.
May we share,
Of our time and talents,
As they did of gold and spice.
May we give what we have,
As the innkeeper, did …
May we make room,
To embrace You,
As the manger,
That was made of wood—
Which cradled You, close,
Just like Your mother’s arms.
And may we hear the echo,
Of the angel’s praise,
In every carol that rings,
Upon the night air.
For Glory to God in the Highest,
Is not quite enough …
And peace on earth,
Though we need it so much …
Is nothing compared,
To our longing, our need,
For Your Spirit, Lord.
May the Babe,
Be, born in us,
So that the resurrected,
Jesus, may live,
Rule and reign,
In our hearts.
For that is how Your love,
Is an earthly and heavenly treasure;
It touches all creation,
—To shine!
The Gospel story of Jesus’ birth: Luke 2
