Doug and I were preparing to do evening devotions. As we quieted our hearts, the Lord laid this on mine; “This time in My presence (doing devotions) shows Me that you are devoted to a relationship with Me; It shows Me, your love.” What a beautiful thought!

Whatever time we give to any relationship displays our devotion to it—and is, in a sense—one measure of our love. Can God tell that He is a priority? Do you show Him that you want to know Him better?  Do you set aside time to give Him love like He has shown to us?

It may be a strange thought as we enter the weeks preceding Valentine's… yet what and whom we are devoted to ultimately displays the ways of our hearts. How is your devotional time with God?  He’d love to know—that you are in love—with Him.

“Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as on this day.” 1 Kings 8:61

Want to spend a little time showing God your affection? Here are a few places in Scripture worth pause and reflection on: Deuteronomy 7:9, Proverbs 8:17, Mark 12:30-31, John 14:15, Psalm 136:26, and 1 John 4:19.
