We had gone on a day trip recently to Lake Michigan. Look who came to visit as we had our lunch in the car. One of the local deer decided to come down to listen to the waves. I can’t say I blame her … even in Winter … they are amazing in their strength and beauty. They indeed declare God to be majestic, holy, and mighty.
And as this deer paused for a picture, I found her quite lovely, too. Think about it; God gave her natural insulation to endure every change in the climate. He made her unique in the animal world. And even in this frigid season, He is providing for her needs.
I don’t know in what area you’re seeking to see God. I can’t know how you need to experience His provision or nearness. But I can tell you that you’re more precious than this deer, yet His eye is upon you both!
I love the words of Psalm 42:1-2: “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. 2 I thirst for God, the living God (NLT).” I find them to be profound. Why? Because as we long for Christ—we find Him to be—all-sufficient in meeting our every need. We learn to trust Him. And we find Him to fill us, satisfy us, and to be present and living through us every day.
Dear Lord, may we visit with you daily to feel Your Spirit alive and at work within our minds and hearts; we pray. Amen.
Have you visited with the Savior to know that you’re cared for and loved by the mighty hand of God?
