Weekly Inspiration for week of 19-25 November 2022
We’ve had a few skiffs of snow this week. You know the type? Where the downy flakes beautifully cloak the trees and bushes, the grass and the landscape, yet doesn't need to be shoveled. As we get older, we consider this to be the loveliest kind. “Mood snow,” you might say, to get us into the holiday spirit.
As we walked, I noticed that these remaining leaves on a shrub appeared as ornaments—God’s natural decorations. How their colors stood out and brightened these late Autumn days! They held a form of luminosity though the sun had not yet come out. In tones of gold and green and red and orange, the scene was perfectly timed for Thanksgiving week.
Dear Lord, leaves like ornaments pointed to this week of Thanksgiving. Between their coloration and the snow upon them, they brought my attention to Your beauty, holiness and majesty. And I couldn’t leave this moment, couldn’t take another step, without giving You gratitude for every evidence of Your presence along our path! I left this spot with a song a praise. Amen.
“Praise the Lord, O heavens! Praise him from the skies! … Let everything he has made give praise to him. For he issued his command, and they came into being; he established them forever and forever. His orders will never be revoked. And praise him down here on earth … Let fire and hail, snow, rain, wind, and weather all obey. Let the mountains and hills, the fruit trees and cedars … young men and maidens, old men and children—all praise the Lord together. For he alone is worthy. His glory is far greater than all of earth and heaven.” (excerpts) Psalm 148: 1-13 TLB
Happy Thanksgiving from our neighborhood to yours! Blessings, deb & doug
