I love this photo because it displays the first light of morning. Darkness, is yielding to the new day that is on tap. Immediately, my thoughts turned to this verse:
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, 'I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.'” John 8:12 NASB
As I was meditating, Jesus spoke this into my heart: "I am the Light of the World, and I want to be the Light in your _________ (area of darkness)."
Do you need the Lord shine His light into your illness? A past mistake? An addiction? Generational patterns? Lies of the enemy? Self-doubt? Poor self-image? Feeling unloved, unwanted, not enough? Do you struggle with the darkness of jealousy, depression, anger?
Jesus is the Light of the World. He is the Light within every heart that surrenders to Him. And He is the Light of eternity. So if darkness—physical, emotional, or spiritual—comes knocking at your door, let in God’s presence, mercy, forgiveness, grace and love.
Also, this verse is a great one to turn into a prayer and thus, a promise. Here’s how:
Dear Lord, I thank You, for being the Light of the World. I place my trust in You from dawn’s first light until the darkness sets in, in the evening, I will look for the evidence of Your nearness. I will seek You in my times of doubt, fear, illness, grief, and my greatest trials and temptations—because I know that darkness cannot overtake You. I walk with You, so I’m held in the shadow of Your faithful love and care. I’m grateful, indeed, Jesus, to follow You. Amen.
