2 P & P Weekly Blog for 21 - 27 October 2023
As October unfolds, there is a natural transition that takes place upon the earth. Take this leaf, for instance. Notice the variance in its hue from golden tones to chartreuse to browns. There are spots and small tears, life and depth, softness, and areas of dryness. As gardens change and fade, new colors and scenes will appear. Trees will develop a glory all their own, and God’s majesty will once again be displayed in creation.
I find this to be so in our lives as well. How about you? As those first fresh breezes begin or the first cool nights arrive, I gain more energy. And I love to behold how the Lord changes each season in its time. I also treasure how He’s with me amid the physical, emotional, and spiritual changes.
Each year brings with it four seasons. Each brings with it opportunities to learn, grow, serve, and study His Word. With each one, we have the chance to deepen our roots and know Jesus better. And with every challenge, we can reflect and emulate Him through our reactions and choices.
Dear Lord, may we be like this leaf, vibrant, shining the light of Your love to those around us. May we yield to Your Will as You allow things to touch us that might cause scars, hurt, or pain. And may we be flexible, willing to offer everything in order to bring You glory, we pray. Amen.
Please look up 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:20, Isaiah 43:19, Daniel 2:20-21, 2 Corinthians 3:18. What do these verses have in common?
In what area do you feel God might have you in a period of transition? Your job? Your neighborhood? Your church? Your serving or giving? Aging or caring for a loved one? Is He moving you out of your comfort zone in order to change your heart? Is He drawing you to Himself to know Him more?
Transitions are often God’s way of refining, redesigning, and refreshing us—for what’s next. Seek Him. Listen. And see what He develops in and through you!
