In faceted hues,
With rainbow colors,
The boardwalk,
And the lake,
Were all aglow.
Out of the velvety atmosphere,
A cold chilly night,
Came brilliant light,
To warm every heart.
We were surrounded with,
Ooh’s and aah’s,
As kaleidoscope images,
Came to life,
In the garden,
That was otherwise,
—Barren.
And even though the space,
Was devoid of blossoms,
It was purely planted,
With love,
With design,
With a touch of God’s wonder.
For His creativity,
Shone through the workings,
Of many a hand,
To bring such,
Beauty,
To fruition.
There will be seasons when we cannot “see” what God is doing. But we must trust in these times that He is working on some hidden facet—usually—of the heart. For just as the garden was not in bloom with flora and fauna, it was no less lovely in its current state of “dress.”
Never underestimate His Spirit’s work in what may feel dormant. Because it may be that the Lord is simply bringing out a new spectrum of your faith, joy, forgiveness, or His grace—to shine for another day and time.
Dear Lord, may Your light flow through us even in times that feel cold or lifeless to our souls. For though the garden is not “planted,” it is surely alive and vibrant to shine for Your glory. May it be so in us also. Amen.
“Sow with a view to righteousness [that righteousness, like seed, may germinate]; reap in accordance with mercy and lovingkindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, for it is time to seek and search diligently for the Lord [and to long for His blessing] until He comes to rain righteousness and His gift of salvation on you.” Hosea 10:12 AMP
If we will use barren times—to ready ourselves—God will make of us a well-watered garden in and out of season.
