From this vantage point, the hills rose up in great power and might. Their towering peaks made us feel very small.
I love how Psalm 121:1-3, both asks and answers, a question that we all have from time to time: “I lift up my eyes to the (hills) mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber.”
Have you ever been to a place such as this and asked a question, and then listened until it echoed back to you? This verse seems to almost echo across a scene such as this … with the refrain—that no matter our need, our Creator, the One who made the hills, mountains and vales—is (will be) our Helper. He stands at the ready to be our Protector, our oasis, and our hope. When we ask a question of the Lord—He is aware, listening and ready to respond.
So if you need a little perspective when hurts, problems, or illness come calling—call upon the name of the God of the Universe. Come into His company. Come sit at His feet, rest, and ponder the wonders that He’s made. For though the hills/the mountains rise and fall—our God is steadfast, immoveable, and is forever faithful.
Knowing that our help comes from the Lord, keeps our eyes fixed upon Him and not on the climb ahead. Step by step, He’ll lead us, if we trust Him. Don’t be afraid to ask for God’s help—He’ll always answer you—in His timing, with His promise of light and hope to guide you, by day and night!
