2 P&P Weekly Blog for 5-11 October 2024
As the leaves begin to change and dot the tops of trees … I found this Water Lily in a small pond in our neighborhood. Interestingly, all Summer, their blooms have been closed from late into the evening and into the early morning hours. But this week, even as we’ve had our first frost, this lily is holding on. It’s in full bloom. Not only that, but it’s showing its beauty early in the morning and has remained open for several days.
The things of God’s creations amaze me—they demonstrate tenacity, growth, loveliness, and the ability to survive challenges. Sound familiar? God’s Spirit within us is what gives us strength, hope, healing, and the ability to “hold on” through difficulties/changes/uncertainties. They make me so thankful for His unchangeable character.
Hebrews 10:23 encourages us this way: “We must hold on to God's promise that we have said we believed. And we must never let go. He has promised and he will do it (WENT).”
Joshua 23:14 says: “Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the Lord your God spoke concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed (NASB).”
Dear Lord, thank You for this lily that has bloomed even as frost appeared this week. As it opened its face to seek You, I was reminded of 1 Chronicles 16:11. “Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually (NASB).” But I also love the end of the ESV translation: “seek His presence continually.” Jesus, that’s precisely how I need (and look) to You. Amen.
If a Water Lily can bloom in Autumn and withstand a frosty morning, we should trust that this same Creator and God will strengthen (restore, encourage, empower, heal) us to do all that’s within His Will.
Hold on to what He’s placed in your heart. Obey. Seek His presence, always. And watch how He keeps His Word!
