May every flag you see,
Remind you of our country's liberty.
May every liberty you experience,
Remind you that someone paid a dear price.
May every gathering you attend,
-Each firework you behold,
-Every way in which you celebrate …
Remind you that we were founded as—
“One nation under God,”
And that we remain so,
Today.
Dear Lord, thank You for the freedoms of our nation,
And for the freedom we have,
Because Your beloved Son gave His perfect life,
And blood to redeem us.
That’s a gift worth celebrating,
And sharing,
Everywhere we go today.
For as we appreciate God’s grace to us,
We also want it to shine through us.
So that we’re an emblem (a banner) of His love for the world.
“The Anointed One, the Liberating King, has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. It was stated in the Scriptures, ‘Everyone who hangs on a tree is cursed by God.’ This is what God had in mind all along: the blessing He gave to Abraham might extend to all nations through the Anointed One, Jesus; and we are the beneficiaries of this promise of the Spirit that comes only through faith. My dear brothers and sisters, here’s a real-life example I can give you: With a last will and testament, when all the property is accounted for, the document is signed, witnessed, and notarized; and afterward no one can make changes to it. In a similar way, God’s promises established a binding agreement with Abraham and his offspring. In the Scriptures, it is carefully stated, ‘and to your descendant’ (meaning one), not ‘and to your descendants’ (meaning many). Therefore, in these covenant promises, God was not referring to every son and daughter born into Abraham’s family but to the Anointed One to come.” Galatians 3:13-16 VOICE
Of note? One of the names of God is “Jehovah Nissi.” It means that He is our banner. It comes from the Bible story in Exodus 17. I’ll hope you’ll read the complete account. Here’s the cliff notes version: Amalek came to fight against Israel. Moses told Joshua to choose men to go and fight. He said that he would stand on a hill the next day with a staff of God in his hand.
As long as Moses’ hand (and the staff of God was raised), they prevailed. If Moses dropped his hand/staff, they did not. After trying to elevate his arms with a stone … Aaron and Hur supported him … giving them victory. They built an altar unto the Lord and named it “The Lord is My Banner.” This was a prophetic image of Jesus on the Cross—and He became our banner and covering.
To Jesus, I give all allegiance, love, and praise!
Happy 4th of July!
Wishing you blessings and a safe holiday,
In His love,
deb and doug
