Rain drops caught in a lacy spider web
Rain drops caught in a lacy spider web

There was something beautiful about the early Autumn morning when I captured this scene. What is it comprised of? 1) A spider has woven an intricate web. 2) This lacy structure has formed a net to hold the rain that has fallen at night. 3) Morning light causes it to be highlighted, even to glisten. 4) All of this is set against an intricate backdrop of greenery.

Why do I take such time to point this out? Because I’m always fascinated with every detail of God’s unique creations. I’m intrigued by how He waters the earth to make all things grow and come to life. I love how each raindrop has been suspended and held within a creature’s silky weaving. And this scene has so many layers—to draw our eyes to how marvelous our Creator is.

So how does this apply to your life? God knows every detail about you—your personality, hopes, dreams, and how He’s created your life with a plan and purpose unto His glory. He’s layering experiences and connections with your family, friends, church, co-workers, neighbors, and community to shape you—and you, them. He’s using sunshine and showers to bring out your character further. He’s invested His love (and life) to prove that He’ll never be finished with the design. And He’s drawing us to Himself through His Word and beauty daily.

Philippians 1:6 tells us, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (ESV)” So beloveds, let’s look at how God consistently demonstrates His goodness, intricate patterns, and love for us—because they will continue until we see Him face to face (and beyond). Scenes like this one can teach us that He’s working day and night to tend to Earth. Thus, He attends to you and me as carefully.

Here are a few places of Scripture to add a few layers to your knowledge of God’s Word and Ways: Psalm 139, Jeremiah 29:11-13, Psalm 32:7-8, Romans 8:28, Romans 8:38-39, Jeremiah 31:3
