From the Outside, Case

Have you ever felt a little like a kaleidoscope? Ordinary, plain, waiting for someone to pick you up and peer inside? To love you and show you that you’re wanted and valued? Well, good news—God, your Creator, is the One Who made you originally, and loves you completely.

An Image of a kaleidoscope.
An image of a kaleidoscope.

You may feel ordinary …

You may have been picked on as a child.

You may think you have little to offer,

But God’s eye is upon you.

His love is encircling you.

His heart is reaching out to you,

To show you His love,

And your individual worth.

Reach out your hand,

Open your heart.

Trust Him with your life,

Your decisions, your choices, your next step,

And you’ll be the one,

Coming alive,

Sharing the gifts that He’s instilled within your soul,

To give Him glory,

And to create beauty in the world.

A kaleidoscope cannot be appreciated until it’s taken from a shelf, held, touched, turned from an inanimate object and spun, viewed, that it seems to come to life. Likewise, no life is whole, complete or multi-faceted, until we surrender to God’s Will and guidance and plan. Then and only then, can He create art from our brokenness, and form patterns within us, that glow to reflect His grace.

Man looks at the outward “case,” but God is creating beauty and His image—upon the internal—the heart. It’s here, that the facets of His character and love, come alive, to shine.

Meditate upon: 1 Samuel 16:7, Ephesians 2:10, Philippians 1:6

  • What gifts do you possess, naturally and spiritually, that Jesus wants to use for His glory?

  • What feels ordinary within you, that God is telling you, He sees as potential and your specific area of testimony or service?

  • How can viewing a simple kaleidoscope bring encouragement to your heart, to show you that God is not done with your life?

  • Can you see new dimensions of God’s care for you, in the way He is shaping your circumstances, your path in life?
