The Center of Advent--Christmas Eve 24 December 2022
Excerpts from the Happy, Meowy Christmas Devotional
Tilly, loves to come sit closely beside me as I have my quiet time with the Lord. In this photo, you can see just how close—within about 6 inches. She’s intimately connected to me as her momma’, care taker and guardian, because we’ve developed a bond of trust that’s implicit.
Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with you. His invitation was written to your heart in the way He came to earth, so gently. It was lived out in the example of His time spent serving the Father, and in the way He ministered to the hearts of His disciples and mankind. And it was displayed as love and mercy upon the Cross of Calvary.
Here’s your turn to draw close
Dear Jesus, I see my need of You as Companion and Savior. I come, confessing and acknowledging my sinful nature and ask You to be my Good Shepherd, the Lord of my life. Forgive me. Save me; and let Your Spirit be the Guide of my steps. I’m drawing close, Master, and ask You to do the same as I become part of Your family. Amen.
If you’ve already been adopted
Dear Jesus, I come, especially in this Christmas season with a renewed commitment to cherish the gift of my Salvation, Your grace, and love. Grant me the courage to share this gift, not only with those who are closest to me, but with my co-workers, friends, and neighbors. And Lord, help me to grow in the grace and knowledge of Who You are, so that I mature—in faith, in trust, in my following of You, I pray. Amen.
Tilly’s coming close reminds me of our bond of love. It’s how I show my devotion to Jesus as well. It’s how He demonstrates to my heart that He is with me—as I read His Word, pray and follow His Will. Will you come close to let God show you how dear you are, to Him?
(The following page has a written prayer from my heart to the Lord. Then I give you room to answer a few questions and respond to His Spirit. Will you come close to the Master?)
