We were walking in the woods,
Very recently,
When we came upon,
This charming pine tree.
It was all decked out,
With a ribbon of red,
That was woven ‘round and ‘round,
From end to end.
There were a few ornaments,
Scattered here and there,
Left like little tokens,
To give or to share.
In case you’re wondering … no … I was not the one to decorate the tree. Although, we once came upon a perfectly shaped pine tree at the beach, and I told Doug that I was tempted to decorate it. So, I appreciate the spirit of the person who added some holiday cheer to the walking path!
It was precious to spy it in an uncommon place. It made me smile. And I wanted to share it with you. Why? Because this is what Christmas is all about.
Jesus came in an unexpected way. He came to be the gift to the world. He came to bring us hope, joy, and peace. And He came to share His love as a gift for all mankind.
What do you have to share in this Holy Season? What about your heart? Some act of kindness? How about His love? How about brightening your spot along the path for someone before this year concludes? And how about sharing your testimony of walking with the Lord, day by day?
Christmas is a day, that’s true. But it can become a way of living, of giving and sharing. And when it does, it brings kindness, hope, and joy to every space that it invades.
“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:7-14 KJV
May every step of your giving and sharing,
Card sending, baking, and merrymaking,
Be filled with love!
For this is the reason Jesus came.
It’s the reason,
That He rules and reigns!
