Bringing Good Tidings

Weekly Inspiration for week of 3-9 December 2022

Christmas Bells remind us of God's good tidings
Christmas Bells remind us of God's good tidings

The bells were put up,

On the city street,

They tinkled as we walked by,

With a sound so sweet.

As I beheld them,

I was transported backward in time …

To the sound of angels,

Who delivered a form of rhyme:

“Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace to man.” (Luke 2:14)

It rang out to all creation,

Jesus’ birth was all part of God’s original plan.

And so I hope in this Holy Season,

That if you hear or see a bell,

You’ll be reminded,

Of the King’s story,

And I hope you “do tell,”

Of His glory, peace and love!

Christmas is filled with many wonderful sights and sounds. It’s a time to treasure the miracle of Jesus’ birth. And it’s a time for us to echo the truth of God’s love—from every street corner, and to every person who shares our lives.

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” Luke 2:10 KJV

We may not hear directly from an angel this Christmas, but the angels were blessed to proclaim His praise. May we be like a bell—clearly, purely—echoing with God’s love, peace, joy and hope—until the whole world experiences Him as the miracle He is. Will you share His Good Tidings, today?
