All the Time

Weekly Inspiration for week of 24 November - 2 December 2022

Thanksgiving often brings idyllic images to mind: gatherings, food and fellowship, counting our blessings. Right? And we hope your day and weekend are just so! But have you ever had a “not so idyllic” situation come your way? And how did/will you respond?

We can be hurt/upset OR we can cover the person and situation with His grace, and pray blessing over them. Because of God’s great love for us at Calvary (and every day that we live), we do well to remember our own faults and frailties and offer His love.

Immediately following something that was not-so-idyllic this week, these words began to flow through my mind, in the form of a song:

A Thanksgiving Cornucopia to wish you blessings
A Thanksgiving Cornucopia to wish you blessings

Lord,

You’re good all the time,

All the time,

All the time.

Your Word is true,

All the time,

All the time,

All the time.

You’re faithful,

All the time,

All the time,

All the time.

I love You, Jesus,

All the time,

All the time,

All the time.

I trust You, Father,

All the time,

All the time,

All the time.

I praise You,

All the time,

All the time,

All the time.

We began to pray a blessing over this person/circumstance. We began to ask for God’s presence and peace to fall over him/her and us. Why? Because we believe that God is always—good, just, merciful, loving, forgiving and faithful—all the time. And if we’ll surrender everything—He’ll cover it all—with His grace.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” And when we practice these things, we learn to rely upon Him—all the time, for our every need! That’s reason enough to fuel our minds with gratitude and fill our hearts with praise.

Thank You, Jesus, for being a God of love. Teach us, in all circumstances, to see Your attributes and follow Your Will. Amen.

We hope your Thanksgiving week/weekend is idyllic, but if you encounter anything or anyone that makes it less than perfect … I hope you’ll adopt my poem/song and give God your attention, focus, pause and praise. That’s how we keep our joy; that’s how we keep our hope alive; that’s how we show that we are children of the King. Blessings, In His Love!
