2 P & P Weekly Blog for 22-28 July 2023
We have a couple of ponds in our local neighborhood. One morning we were out walking and stopped to admire small yellow flowers growing here. But as we paused, we found an interesting sight. This fish wiggled to get to the top of the lily pad leaves.
At first, we thought it must be turned around, but as we continued to watch, it came to rest on the surface and proceeded to drink (gulp in) the droplets that formed there. How amazing it is to observe creation, the things God has made in their natural habitats, and realize that he had come up for air.
Ever feel that way? Like you’re swimming along with the current? Thinking you’re where you’re “supposed” to be, and the Lord is trying to lead you to higher ground? To a place where you can rest? To drink freely of His Spirit and presence?
If that’s the case … want to know my advice? Don’t fight it. Come and rest. Draw near. Let Jesus give you breath, refresh your soul, and perhaps give you a new outlook. After all—this fish got a beautiful display of wildflowers, sunshine, fresh air, and rainwater to renew its strength. It came out of darkness and a watery pond—to find light and a whole new world waiting to be explored.
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4 ESV
Dear Lord, bring me to spaces like this—above—that allow me to be filled with Your love and peace. Teach me to see these as an oasis You’re providing and a space that invites me to gain a new perspective, some rest, or simply time to take in Your beauty. Help me drink in Your Word, Jesus, and sit at Your feet with gratitude for Your care. Then show me what’s next so that my refueling is put to good use for Your glory. Amen.
If we wish to live above our circumstances … we must be filled with Jesus’ Living Water daily!
